- Read through the document first to make sure you understand the content.
- Find all the unfamiliar words and add them to the client's glossary.
- Do the translation.
- Check the translation against the original sentence by sentence.
- Read the translation to see if it sounds natural in the target language.
- Run a spell check.
- Double check numbers and dates (check if the numbers in the translation are the same as those in the original document, decimal points vs. commas, measures, etc).
- Proofread the translation for a last time.
- Make sure the translation is in the required format and delivered on time.
- Send the translation.
- Request confirmation of receipt from your client.
